What you will Learn

Yoga Class
  • Historical Context and Philosophical Foundations: Dive into the rich history of yoga, understanding its evolution from ancient times to the present day. Explore key philosophical texts such as the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, and Hatha Yoga Pradipika, linking these teachings to the practice and teaching of yoga today.

  • Anatomy and Physiology: Gain a thorough understanding of the human body, including the skeletal, muscular, nervous, cardiovascular, endocrine, digestive, and respiratory systems, and their interconnections with yoga practice. Learn about the fight, flight, freeze stress response, vagal theory, and the overall mind-body connection.

Senior Therapy

  • Asana Practice and Teaching: Master the art of sequencing asanas (including sukhasana and savasana specific to our lineage) safely to achieve the desired effects. Understand shared anatomical and alignment principles, contraindications, and adaptations to ensure safe practice for all students.

  • Pranayama and Meditation: Explore the effects of pranayama on anatomy and the subtle body, learning techniques such as Ujjayi, Nadi Shodhana, and Kapalabhati. Dive into meditation practices, understanding key terms, methods, and the ability to practice and teach school-chosen practices effectively.

  • Subtle Body Understanding: Study the koshas, kleshas, chakras, nadis, and prana vayus, integrating this knowledge into your teaching to offer a more holistic yoga experience.

Yoga Team
  • Trauma-Informed Practices: Our program emphasises the importance of creating a trauma-sensitive environment, incorporating empowerment-based language, integration of choices, supportive presence, and understanding the unique experiences of trauma survivors. Learn how to invite postures, manage breath in the context of trauma, and integrate themes and philosophy in a way that respects all participants.

  • Professional Development: Cover essential aspects of yoga teaching, including sequencing, pace, environment, cueing, class management, and ethical considerations aligned with the Yoga Alliance Ethical Commitment. Additionally, gain insights into marketing, promotion, liability insurance, and continuing education to support your journey as a yoga professional.
